" The Gothenburg based singer/songwriter released her debut EP 'No Rush', fittingly written and catered for escaping the pace of modern life. The 5-track collection is an invitation into a selection of charming pop-tinged songs with sweet soulful vocals. The playfulness of title Hurry Slow reflects in Olivia’s vocal style. Undoubtedly inspired by personal experience, Olivia’s words are instantly relatable and she excels throughout with immersive phrasing. The blissful and dreamy ballad Let Me is
absorbingly written and
Calling satisfactorily rounds off the EP. The value of time and reflection form the EPs thread and ties all the songs neatly together for a highly engaging listening
experience." - Andy Collins,
Olivia Junholm is a soulful singer/songwriter from Gothenburg, Sweden. Her sound has a flavor of soul and pop with warm jazz influences, and with her characteristic voice she spreads a positive and sweet vibe.
Mpho Ludidi writes, ” I first heard Olivia at the festival "Live At Heart" and were so taken by her personality in the music; especially how her voice finds pleasure in dancing around chord tones from the Neo-Soul/Jazzy guitar in her music. If you want your heart to lay back, smile and sing along to a picture of a good life; I recommend to you, Olivia Junholm.”
She grew up in a home deeply influenced by music as an artform and profession. This is where her love for music started. From a young age she started to perform on stages of varying musical genres, both as a soloist and in ensembles.
”Since early years music has always been a big part of my life, therefore singing and performing came very natural to me. Growing up with a professional musician and music producer as a dad obviously made an impact. And I loved it.”
Olivia graduated from Rytmus Musikergymnasiet in Gothenburg (Rytmus School of Music) in 2014, majoring in vocal performance. Her songwriting eventually lead her to attend Sarah Kelly Music School in Houston, Texas. Sweekman
Production eventually recorded some of her music in spring of 2016, and during autumn the same year her debut single "TRY" was released, written by the artist herself.
Her history tells us that she has recurring plays on Swedish radio, live performances at the global music forum Sofar Sounds, the festival Live At Heart etc. Now the artist has finally presented new music.
Inspired by artists like Lianne La Havas, Amy Winehouse and Emily King, Olivia has created her own unique sound.
”In a world full of fast food, where we want everything to happen quickly, I've been longing to create something different.”
Her debut EP 'No Rush' was released in February 2020, in collaboration with Light&Salt Records. Available now on your favorite digital platform.
